About this listen

A hilarious thriller that pits a CIA-trained assassin against a cross-dressing mafioso.

Henry and his wife, Frances, have gone bamboo - living an idyllic, tequila-drenched life as two of the Caribbean's most charming expatriates (and professional assassins). But when Charlie "Wagons" Iannello, a powerful capo with a heart of gold, is relocated to the island under the Federal Witness Protection Program, Henry and Frances' plan suddenly, dangerously falls apart. Now, despite the fact that Henry once tried to kill Charlie, the two join forces against the transvestite mob boss looking to ace Charlie, and the scene is set for an unpredictable tale of low life and high comedy.

A great story, beautifully told and engaging right the way through. The island setting brought to life with colourful description.

Great story, great characters!

Anthony at his best, my hero, love his humour and passionate words. Felt I was on the Island.

Gripping Sequel

Earlier this year, I read and very much enjoyed Anthony Bourdain's Bone in the Tbdoaf, his first novel. This, the second, is also a madcap ride of slaughter and profanity in a small luxury Caribbean holiday resort where an erstwhile crime boss, willing to give evidence against former colleagues, is being held in protective custody. And someone wants him dead. Not as much fun as the first book but, for fans of Anthony Bourdain, definitely worth a read.
Narration is well performed, with multiple character voices, by Chris Patton
