About this listen

"The Tyger"… "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud"…"Ode to the West Wind"…"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"…"Ode to a Nightingale"…"We’ll go no more a-roving"…"The Peasant Poet"

‘All good poetry,’ wrote Wordsworth, ‘is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings’ and this was to be one of the hallmarks of the Romantic poets.

With a dynamic spirit, these great English poets made a conscious return to nostalgia and spiritual depth. Each chose a different path, but they are united in a love of moods, impressions, scenes, stories, sights and sounds. In this collection of more than forty poems are some of the finest and most memorable works in the English language.

Lovely reading by Michael Sheen

This was a real pleasure to listen to. The readings are very dramatic but well judged I think. Michael Sheen has a great voice. I have never better appreciated these poems.

Excellent

A great selection of poems surveying the keys of the major canon. Thoroughly enjoyed Michael Sheens renditions particularly of Blake. Will be looking for work by him in future.

Make time your friend and stop awhile

Delight in a journey through Romantic poetry, beautifully rescucitated by Michael Sheen. His voice shifts and shapes to capture each poet's phrasing and meaning.
From soothing reverence to nature till the depths of murderous despair, he shall lead you if you but allow him in.

No structure

This is one piece of work after another - some great works, of course, but simply one reading, then another, then another. However much I like the works, I simply cannot sit and get hit with one, after another, and another, and another...
