About this listen
"Sing, gypsies, sing of your lies...."
That old song plays in my head as the world turns around me faster than it has ever turned. Monsters and mayhem. That's become my life. Fear and apprehension. That's become the normal for those around me. Dread and distraction. That's what has interrupted my own personal romance story with my mon-star quad. Vengeance and retribution. That was the theme of the monster world long before I landed in it, and it's starting to heat up more than ever.
I guess it's time to see if I can handle being in the middle, because that's where I'm about to put myself. My mother always did accuse me of being a masochist. I'm starting to think she must be right.
Either they love me, or they love her. I suppose it's time to find out who wins. I don't fight pretty, and I'm not that great at smack talk. It's not that they're not worth fighting for. I just don't want to have to fight for them. Not when when I'm fighting bigger battles already. Either we're in this together, or I'm on my own. That's for them to decide on their own.
Let the games begin.
Contains mature themes.

Got lost in the great story again!
Really enjoyed it. Unpredictable and leaves more open to discover in the last book.
was not expecting the way she handled the "not her problem" problem. Or the way it was written so I laughed out loud when I should of been scared.
The Author made me stay with the female lead and how she felt, while keeping us in the dark with her plans. Making me Zag when I thought she would be zigging!

Well crafted story.
New characters have entered the fray and although not all their motives are transparent, they all have purpose and add intrigue.
There are so many mysteries surrounding people's motives, I'm really hoping they all get revealed in a fitting way (since there's only one book left in the series). As past events continue to unfold and shed some insight into why some characters are they way they are, it's still impossible to have a clear idea of where this story is headed or how it will end.
Immortal monsters that were once human, have lived for centuries under a curse, and have been at war with each other for reasons still unclear, making them lose their trust in others, and numbing them to emotions like hope, compassion and love.
Violet has only been alive for 26 years, she's also immortal and despite the fact that she's been hunted since the age of 13, she is not numb to hope, compassion and love, and she may be the key to end the curse and heal old wounds, leaving the past in the past.
The whole argument of what is right and wrong, who is good and bad, continues to come into question, and is very much determined by each individuals experiences and choices, it's interesting when there's so much grey area that there's still a sense of good and evil.
I appreciate how even through the angst and turmoil there is still plenty of humour, to the point where I am laughing out loud from time to time. I really hope Violet finds her purpose and the people she cares for find their peace.
