Summary

Note to self: Never make a deal with Blapy.

Everything has gone haywire. The world outside is falling to pieces, Ruwen’s gone missing, and Hamma has just accepted the worst quest ever devised by god or man.

Hamma thought she was getting information on Ruwen’s whereabouts, but ended up with a ticking time bomb. If she doesn’t complete the five-part quest line to become the Black Pyramid Priestess within two days, the penalties could have consequences for the entire universe.

Hamma has Lylan to help her, and she’s got 40 new levels under her belt, but to outplay Blapy, she’s going to need even more help. And who better than Blapy’s own monsters?

But these monsters have secrets of their own.

Hamma’s journey into the depths of the Black Pyramid might set everything right, or it might destroy her entire life’s mission, and her love life to boot.

She’s got 48 hours to find out.

Hamma’s Last Prayer is a stand-alone story that follows Hamma as she struggles to deal with Ruwen’s mysterious disappearance between The Sixth Rune and Shadow’s Seventh Step of the Divine Apostasy series.

Changed my definition of excellent performance.

I discovered today that I have a cumulative 2.5 months of audiobook listening. I think Andrea Parsneau is my favourite performer. Plenty of others read the books well. Many immerse you in the story. Andrea just... does more. You can feel the tension of each chapter by the tempo of her words. She inhabits the characters' joy and suffering. And, more important than I could have possibly imagined, she doesn't just read the dialogue. She laughs it, she sobs it, she makes it real. Also, she made Lillen's "hehehe" one of my favourite sounds!

Obviously, the text itself is great! I've loved Blapy and Hamma throughout the series, but I feel like I've learned more about who they are in this book than in the previous 6. I've been dying to learn more about Lillen and I'm so happy to have really spent a book with her. And Hamma's arc actually told me a lot about myself, a truly impressive feat of truth in fiction.

As good as the main series 🙂

I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but I did. Good character development and great narration.
