Jon Reznick has never played by the rules, a trait that has brought him into conflict with FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein in the past. But now Meyerstein has been taken by a shadowy gang, and the renegade black-ops specialist may be her only hope for rescue.

The FBI are reluctant to let Reznick anywhere near the case, but he's not in the habit of seeking their permission - especially once his covert investigation leads him straight to the head of the Russian Mob. And it soon becomes clear that it's not only Meyerstein who's in danger: her abduction is just the start of a campaign to undermine American law and order.

With Meyerstein's whereabouts unknown, and the CIA and FBI seemingly operating at cross-purposes, it falls to Reznick to go it alone. Can he get to Meyerstein before the mob get to him?

The narration of the book Hard Way was pleasant to the ear, the tone even and cosiest. I also liked the story which was captivating and exiting without being too far fetched. All in all, a worthwhile listen to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon.

This series of Jon Reznick's adventures is now becoming my guilty secret pleasure over the summer. It takes a while to suspend all your disbelief that only one man can save the world rather than the entire FBI/CIA/DEA/Police etc with all their manpower, specialized equipment and resources. But when you can achieve that you are in an adult sized boy's own adventure. You know the story by the first few pages and the good guys are going to ultimately win after coming over significant adversary. Just go with the flow and enjoy y

I am a sucker for a fast moving action thriller. And this book and the series delivers fast paced action, and interesting characters. I just like the main character. The narration is excellent.
