Summary
Caught in a war between the living and the dead, which side will Maxine choose?
Boston, 1897
Death’s arrival in Boston was heralded by a crimson moon and screams in the night. The vampire king will claim what he wants in the city, unless someone is brave enough to stop him....
Maxine Parker’s life is an agonizingly solitary one, and not by choice. life. Her empathic ability renders it impossible for her to touch a living soul without killing them. But she cannot kill what is already dead.
Thrust into the middle of a war between the vampire king and three stalwart hunters, she finds herself drawn to Dracula’s alluring seduction. Giving in to her attraction to him would mark the end of her life. Will that be the sacrifice required to save the people of Boston from the plague of death closing in on them?
Dark fantasy and gothic romance blend seamlessly with horror in this gripping pause-resister.

Wow.
It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to or read a book until the end. Especially when I like romantic comedies. They all became too predictable.
This book however, is amazing. It’s unbelievably well written and has enough substance to keep you interested while the romance is still there.
LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Well written smut
I am now a fan of Kathryn. I've been looking for a good vampire book for so long; this is it!
Great writing, imaginative plot and Dracula is very much the vampiric villain but charming all the same.
The spicy scenes were brilliant and exciting, so if you want some well written spice, this is it.
It took me a while to get used the narrator. I would have preferred a female voice but after I got used to hearing him it bothered me less.
I am definitely reading the next book in the series

A really good vampire story
If you want a classic stile vampire story this is it I have listened to both of the books in this series and enjoyed it immensely, to me it is far removed from the twilight esk stories which was what I have been looking for. The narrators voice took in the beginning to get used to but I feel like it’s always that way when listening to a new voice on audio, there are some scenes I was not comfortable with but I skipped over them and overall enjoy this I do really recommend it!

Brilliant
This was a fantastic new take on the Gothic novel.
It questions what humanity is and who the monsters really are.
Great narrator and charicters.

Very much enjoyed this
A good bit of action and a dangerous romance with some submissive and dominant roles and also some twists. Great story and a good amount of suspense and tension as well as a great read of you like your passion with a bit of bite.

Dracula as hero/anti hero
I liked that Dracula is depicted as a proper character, darkly romantic rather than the usual pantomime villain. And he has an interesting sparring partner. Some clichés in there, which jusy add to the humour. A good attempt at something that's been tried before, though with varying success. Looking forward to the sequel.

Mediocre
Mediocre plot. Mediocre Romance. Narrator made characters unnecessarily pretentious. Mentions of red eyes too repetitive
