About this listen

Based on the author's real-life story of dying on a mountain, this enthralling audiobook combines the thrills of a wilderness adventure with the awe inspiring elements of a paranormal novel.

In March of 1980, college senior Peter Panagore went ice climbing on the world-famous Lower Weeping Wall, along the Ice Fields Parkway in Alberta, Canada. His climbing partner was an experienced ice climber, but Panagore was a novice. On their descent, they became trapped on the side of the mountain. As the sun set, he was overcome by exhaustion and hypothermia. He died on the side of that mountain in 1980. In his minutes on the other side, he experienced hell, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Heaven was beautiful.

Panagore's near death experience (NDE) changed his life and resulted in an intense spiritual journey that has continued for decades. It impelled him to pursue a master's degree at Yale Divinity School focusing on systematic theology and Christian mysticism. His educational background coupled with 30 years of yogic and meditative practice and 20 years of professional work with the dying and grieving has given him unique insight, language, and perspective on heaven, God, death, life, love, beauty, and hope.

"I have told my story to audiences large and small for a decade now.... My story touches people's hearts; every time I tell it the audience is gripped and silent.... This book is about hope. It is meant to give real hope to the dying, hope to the fearful, hope to the hopeless, hope to the grieving."

Very interesting and compelling story. Great narration and easy to follow. I wish there was more emphasis and longer chapters on the feelings and spiritual experience but still very good.

Very good story

An interesting story but if you are expecting a more detailed account of a spiritual experience then you might be disappointed in this story. We get to read a story about a young mans adventures in the snow packed Canadian mountains and it is very well described and elongated but the actual spiritual experience is very sparse so much so, that I felt I was reading about a mountaineering experience of a young man rather than a trip to Heaven. The author is misleading the reader by the title.

Emphasis is lost on spiritual experience

Very good book would listen to it again. Although I would buy the book and read it this time.

overall this book was just ok.
don't get me wrong, it's a nice testimonial. however, the first half drags on and is overly descriptive; almost to repetitive.
wait for the sales if I were thee

Nice testimony, far too long

Around 20% of the book is spiritual and about the NDE. I would try and find the chapter at the start about his family and then skip to chapter 12/13 where the story actually starts. Most of the book is extremely detailed descriptions about hitch hiking, semesters in college, mountain climbing and the tools and the gear needed for it. If the book was around 1/3 of the length & focused on the NDE or spiritual aspects it would have been awesome. The author seems lovely & his story is great but the book doesn’t seem to have been edited.. so much unnecessary details & a lot of repetition.

Wish it was shorter
