About this listen

Useful wisdom. Simple profound mental models to guide your decisions.

Overwhelmed? If you feel anything less than “hell yeah!” about something, say no. We say yes too often. By saying no to almost everything, you leave space and time in your life to throw yourself completely into the few things that matter most.

After Derek Sivers’ “hell yeah or no” rule was adopted by podcasters, bloggers, and investors, he compiled related ideas into this useful, profound, and surprising book around the themes of what’s worth doing, fixing faulty thinking, and making things happen. Examples:

  • Be proud to be a slow thinker.
  • Goals shape the present, not future.
  • Assume you’re below average.
  • Life has no speed limit.
  • What’s obvious to you is amazing to others.
  • Relax for the same result.

The first 15,000 early buyers of Hell Yeah or No have posted hundreds of 5-star reviews at sive.rs/n—but it is now being released to a wider audience.

Love it, short and sweet

I very much dislike books that should really have been articles, meaning they have a couple of good points but the authors wanted to write s book so these points are repeated in various versions with adding numerous examples. This book is not like that at all, great points short and sweet. Very inspirational!! Will listen to it again soon!

The great life lessons

Loved the anecdotes and perspectives on what matters and what does not. Some of the most interesting and non-standard views I’ve heard

If you're not surprised, you're not learning.

- What would you do if you didn't need the money?
- Actions reveal our real intentions, not thoughts or words.
- Keep earning your title or it expires.
- If you're not feeling ‘hell yeah’, then say no.
- There's no speed limit for learning or growing.
- Silence is an excellent canvas for your thoughts.
- There are always more than two options.
- It would be best if you did not ask for advice on the decision to make, but on the arguments to consider.
- If you're not surprised, you're not learning.
- What do you hate not doing?
- Take decisions as late as possible, when you are at your smartest.
- Smart people think that others are smarter.
- Inspiration is not receiving information, but applying the information you received.
- You grow by doing what excites you and what scares you. Fear is just a form of excitement.

Buy the book! So irritating bg intro/outro/titles

Please, someone just explain to me why to ruin a good book with so bad intro and outro with music and literally drumroll each 2 minutes or so i.e. at each of the sooo many micro chapters! Also awful title reading. It irritates me so much that distract me from the book actual good content.

Great content, awful as an audiobook

Better to read this than listen, they are short chapters full of great content but the constant drums and narration of the new chapter is really disorientating and quite frankly, frustrating.

Brilliant ideas. Horrid chapter transitions.

Why did you add sounds and a Scottish vo artist for chapter transitions? You’ve completely ruined this otherwise-excellent content. Reproduce it and send me the update. 😇
