About this listen
I'm in a predicament of historic proportions. I've learned I can't inherit my grandfather's highly profitable business unless I'm married? Yes, an entirely ridiculous rule.
I live with a herd of rescue cats and nary a boyfriend in sight. I'm also considered plain, sharp-tongued and overweight. And I've never, once been interested in marriage. Hence my reason for applying for a mail-order husband.
The next morning I scream with fright when I find a huge, satanic-looking alien lurking on my doorstep.
Even my cats dart away in fear.
Apparently, I screwed up the application and my invite went on blast to the entire four sectors. Now I'm legally married in absentia to a flame-throwing Hyrrokin male fifteen years my senior. He growls when I mention divorce. Ugh. He needs to go.
But then he gently coaxes a sick, feral kitten into his massive arms and gives it medicine. My heart instantly melts and my body heats up like never before.
Well, maybe I can give this a try.

Her red hot husband
When Lucy sends out a request for a husband the last thing she expects is Burl Sandstone standing on her door step the next day. Burl knows what he wants and he wants Lucy. This is a great read, the characters are fun and the cats adorable. I look forward to reading and listening to more books in this series.
The narration is excellent

Burl and Lucy
Story: Lucy (h) finds herself in a peculiar bind when her late grandfather's will stipulates she must be married to inherit his business—a vital source of support for her and her grandfather’s cat rescue operations. She must marry within a month—a daunting task given her self-described plain appearance and solitary life filled with rescue cats. In a desperate, wine-fueled decision, Lucy applies for a mail-order husband, only to wake up to a terrifying, yet strangely compelling satanic-looking Hyrrokin alien, Burl, appears at her doorstep. Despite her initial fear and his intimidating appearance, Burl's unexpected tenderness with a sick kitten begins to melt Lucy’s heart, leading her to reconsider her aversion to marriage. Burl, who arrived on Earth looking for a mate, quickly becomes enamored with Lucy and her fiery spirit, and is determined to prove his worth and affection for the woman he scents as his bound, if he can just convince her. Their journey is filled with discovery, as Lucy starts considering the possibility of making their marriage work, intrigued by the instant connection and heat between them, while Burl works to convince Lucy to come to Tavros to the home he built for his future bound. Things quickly heat up between Burl and Lucy, as she realizes she's found her own love that rivals the happiness her grandparents shared. Fun romantic hot and steamy instalove alien-human, age gap, curvy girl novella - how could it not be with Hyrrokin heat?
Audio: The narrators did a really great job with taking this story from the written page to an entertaining audio version. The audiobook uses a male narrator and a female narrator – I always appreciate when an author goes for the additional costs of having two narrators in a duet style. Patrick Zeller does a great job with the tone he brings to Burl and other male voices, and Beth Roeg gave Lucy a voice that seemed to embody her, as well as other female voices. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.
