يونس الخطَّاط، بطل رواية "هنا الوردة"، الذي يبتلعه الحوت المجازي، شخصيَّة مثيرة للإعجاب، فهو مزيج من العاشق، والمتمرِّد، والمغامر، والحالم الذي يمشي إلى هدفه الكبير جارَّاً معه سائر شخصيَّات الرواية التي ترى حقيقة يونس بينما يبقى هو الوحيد الذي لا يرى ذاته لأنه، ببساطة، دون كيشوت العربي.

كان لدى دون كيشوت تابعه الأمين الذي ينبِّهه إلى حقيقة ما يجري في الواقع، لكن من ينبِّه يونس؟ هناك من يقدِّم نفسه، في مستهلّ الرواية، كأنَّه الكاتب، بيد أنَّنا سنعرف، من دون إبطاء، أنَّه ليس هو، وذلك في إطار لعبة سرديَّة مدهشة تسكُنها الشعريَّة في الأعماق. رواية لا بدَّ منها لمعرفة ما جرى في زمن عربي عاشت فيها الأحلام (أم الأوهام؟!) كأنَّها حقائق والحقائق كأنَّها أحلام.
