Summary
A Buchanan brother finds a love to treasure in this scintillating historical romance from New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands....
After escaping from the English soldiers who attacked her home and imprisoned her in a dungeon, Lady Elysande de Valance is grateful for the rugged Scots who are escorting her to safety in the Highlands. Even with danger dogging their every step, she hadn’t expected to welcome the strong comforting embrace of their leader, Rory Buchanan. They say he’s a healer, but she finds the heat of his touch does so much more....
Let his brothers get married - Rory is too busy tending to the sick to be bothered with wooing a bride. But when he is tasked with accompanying a family friend’s “treasure” to the Highlands, he is surprised to learn the treasure is a beautiful woman on the run - and even more surprised to discover bruises hidden by her veil. Rory makes it his mission to tend to her injuries and protect her, but the thought of losing her makes him realize that perhaps it is his heart that is most in need of healing....

loved it
Loved every second of it. I just couldn't stop listening. I love this series so much I can't get enough of it. But I missed the rest of Rory's family. i love it when they're all included in the stories. Derek Perkins was brilliant as always his voice makes listening to the story so much nicer. Can't wait for Alec's story. And maybe Una and McGregor's and Gavin McLeod's.

Healer and worrior 🌾🌿🍀🌺🗡️🛡️
I couldn't wait for Rory's story, throughout the whole series he was an integral character and a much loved one as well, so it was lovely to finally see Rory getting his HEA. this book is not as sexy as some of the previous books in the series but the story itself was good.
The only complaint I really have is that in this book we have non of the other siblings with the exception of Alick, which I was sad about as I loved the siblings interactions when they help one another to solve the problem. I was also hoping to find out that Aulay and Jetta have a child yet it was not mentioned which I was sad about. Lastly there wasn't too much of a drama or mystery to solve and the traitor was a little obvious as Rory suspect and mention him by name. Lastly the narrator was good but sadly was not good at pronouncing the Scottish names, would have prefared a narrator with Scottish accent as was previously done.
All in all good book which to me didn't disappoint 😁.

Best narrator in series.
Wonderful narrator, soft genuine Scottish burr, great intonation, pacing and not too theatrical. Another great book in this Series.

Worth a read, but lacking
Was totally in to it , until they reached the ale house. In trying to make Rory different from his brothers, it took to much away from him, instead of playing to Rorys “ different ways” as a strength , in my opinion the author left him lacking, which is a shame.
There was moments of brilliance, but unlike previous books, this one dragged out, the story was great , it had the bones to be one of the best books in the series, but didn’t, I think it was rushed, becouse he author who is one of my favourites can do better. It could of been so much moor.
Potatoes in that time , weren’t even used in England, neither was cottage pie even invented then.
Lacking enough steamy bits, the bits what were there, one was brilliant, the other just ok!
Tom should of never been in the bed, made Rory look weak.
A sword was never waved in protection, would of liked to read about Rory, having one fight at least to protect the fair maid.
But worth a read, hopefully if the story of Alex the last brother left finding a bride is better,
Please don’t end the series with this book, need a hum dinger to go out on- hopefully this is the authors plan !
