Summary

The first heart-stopping, enthralling serial-killer thriller in the million-copy best-selling Jack Ryder Mystery series.

Ben is supposed to be in school. It's Monday morning, but his parents are still asleep after a night of heavy drinking.

Ben waits patiently, even though he knows he is missing out on today's field trip to the zoo. But, when his black Labrador suddenly runs upstairs and comes down with a finger in his mouth, Ben knows he's not making it to school today at all.

Detective Jack Ryder is chaperoning his kids' field trip when he gets the call from the head of the Cocoa Beach Police Department. A body has been found, and they need his help.

Soon, Jack finds himself up against a killer, a predator who ruthlessly chases women and kills them so they can never leave him. The case soon causes serious consequences for him and his family once the truth is revealed.

With her new hero, Jack Ryder, as a loving father and committed detective, a new location in tropical Florida, and a story that moves at an incredible pace, Hit the Road Jack is Willow Rose at the top of her game.

Hit play and enjoy

I enjoyed this book. It did take a little bit of getting use to the story because it jumped around in time and characters, so kept you on your toes but once I got use to it I enjoyed it and it did all come together in the end. There are a number of suspects and twist in the book and you have to concentrate to keep them straight. I liked the home life of the detective, especially the twins. The detective worked on three different cases and although they were all different it was interesting listening to the detective work out how they were sort of connected. Off to start the next book in the series.
Jack is called in on a case when a young boy and his dog finds his mother dead in the family home and his father still asleep in the bed next to her. Then there is a suicide apparently connected to the murder and Jack has more suspects to question. It is only after a house fire where another dead body is found that the sparks begin to fly because the body belongs to a man who shouldn't have been there and the lady of the house and her son is missing. Can Jack find out the connection between the deaths before someone he knows become the next target? Family life is important to Jack, what iwith being a single father but will the past come back to threaten his very furniture?
The narrator was good but I did speed up the narration because he built up the tension by dragging out the words and I found it better speeded up.

A bit disappointing.

At first I thought I would enjoy this book, I'm sorry to say the narration ended it for me.
Saccharine laced with syrup, rolled up in a sticky bun.
I felt that rather than enhancing the story it gave it an over the top presentation. Sorry again. It just left me.
It's a pity because it ruined it for the author too.
If you changed your presentation it would be completely different, as you do have a great voice.
