Wonderfully written, gently developed but if only something a bit more substantial happened. It is one of a four- book series so perhaps it will be more satisfying when all are read. This is the second book and I think they could be read in any order. The narration is very slow and I had to speed it up by 40% to make it bearable.

I love Marilynne Robinson’s writing and Home is another masterpiece of incredible observation of humanity and full of grqce. It is a quiet, poignant and unforgettable book depicting the everyday details of life and family relationships. I found myself moved to tears at many points as I listened on my journeys to work. On that note I found the narration by Maggi-Meg Reed to be sensitive and beautiful and very easy to connect to. Highly recommended.

It was very difficult not to feel so much empathy and also frustration for the situation of all the characters. Brilliant brilliant examination of the relationship between adult siblings and an elderly father in a gold fish bowl of a conservative town

We in turn look back ,and forgive ourselves .His humanity is his redemption .Another Crime and punishment .Loving kindness laced throughout .And more …..

I've already read Gilead, the previous book in this series and that made my experience of this one much richer although on its own its a really rich book. A story of family life and the struggles and hardships endured even in a, loving home. Its an immensely sad portrait of a man who feels a failure despite the love of his family and especially the story of his relationships with his father and one of his sisters. Multi layered and compelling

good characterisations, and a gentle story where little happens on stage. Leaves you to judge about the characters and how they came to be that way. Like real life. Well narrated in a very slow voice, so changing to 1.2× speed was necessary for me.

I’ve tried and tried with this title. The book itself was wonderful to read, however the narrator’s voice is just so irritating, I can’t bear it.
Just my own opinion obviously.

This is one of my favourite books but this is the worst possible voice to recount a story of such delicacy and nuance. It is rhetorical in the extreme. I found it agony!
