CARRIE MATHISON: A HEROINE FOR OUR TIMES
Would you listen to Homeland: Carrie's Run again? Why?
Yes. This ‘prequel’ to the Homeland we know, is written by Andrew Kaplan, who is an American author, best known for his spy thriller novels. We have all yearned for a ‘backstory’ of Carrie’s life before we first saw her on screen. The story fulfills our longing and is gripping from start to finish.
Who was your favorite character and why?
For fans of the TV series, Homeland, we have all become involved in the life of the key character, CIA operations officer Carrie Mathison and we care about her and want to know more about her. For a fan, this ‘prequel’, set in Beirut in 2006, satisfyingly follows Carrie in the ‘edge of the seat’ twists and turns of her job and her personal life. Both of these aspects of the story are filled with suspense.
Have you listened to any of Penelope Rawlins’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have not listened to any of Penelope Rawlin's other performances.

The narration is the only disappointing aspect of this audio book, possibly because we are not ‘familiar’ with the voice and accent of Penelope Rawlins.
An inspired choice for narrator of ‘Carrie’s Run’ would have been Damien Lewis as Brody, who has proved his narrator’s skills in 'Homeland: Phantom Pain'.
Perhaps we Homeland fans can look forward to this in the future.

Great book - awful narration
Would you consider the audio edition of Homeland: Carrie's Run to be better than the print version?
Definitely not. The narration is terrible.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Homeland: Carrie's Run?
None, as I was not motivated to finish because of the awful narration.
Would you be willing to try another one of Penelope Rawlins’s performances?
No.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No.

I'm a Homeland fan and I love to listen to audiobooks. So I though this was going to be a very good buy but it wasn't because of the very annoying narration. Surely the author didn't intend all the male characters to come across as obnoxious twats with a stiff upper lip. Because that's how they all sound. I'm not sure why some narrators think that they completely need to alter their voice when they are narrating someone of the opposite sex but some do and Penelope Rawlins is one of them. And she sounds terrible. I have managed to get through just over an hour but I find that I'm not at all motivated to go back to it. I will need to buy the print version because I would love to finish the story though, the one hour I have heard was well written and a promising story.

excellent story let down by narrator
Good story and interesting to add depth to the homeland saga. The book is let down by the narrator and the the awful accents which make it difficult to follow

This isn't Carrie's Voice
Shockingly poor casting of the Narrator. The narration is grating and a harshness of voice I don't see in Carrie's character. I could not finish this audio book I was looking forward to.
