About this listen
The foundational work you do now is critical, and you’ll always have it to fall back on. Make sure your horse is never spooked in a dangerous moment again…
From desensitizing and disengaging to backing up, these are fundamental training procedures you can’t afford to get wrong...and they’re not procedures you’ll only ever have to engage in once.
You don’t need to spend years in equestrian school to learn these skills: You simply need access to all the essential knowledge distilled and explained in one clear resource...and that’s exactly what you’ll find in this guide.
Inside, you’ll discover:
- The art of desensitizing - guard against your horse becoming spooked at a critical moment
- How to make sure your horse will disengage in any situation that starts to get out of control
- The single most important skill you can teach your horse in order to establish gentle (but firm) leadership
- Why "flexing" is a crucial skill to teach...and the secret to rendering your inside rein unnecessary as a steering tool
- The number 1 thing you must not do in a frustrating training session if you want to maintain control of your horse
- The fundamental skill you’ll need in order to calm a highly strung horse (think yoga for horses...but easier and more professional!)
And much more.
The foundational skills you build with your horse now will pave the way for a solid relationship and a future in which you’re always in control.
Nothing can be taken for granted in horsemanship, and no matter what stage of the journey you’re at, you’ll need to polish these skills throughout your horse’s lifetime.
Build on your foundational knowledge and know exactly how to keep your horse gently under control in any situation: Buy this audiobook now.

Such an informative book. Very Thorough.
I have been around these beautiful animals all my life and a book like this is worth its weight in gold. The level of experience you have or have not is irrelevant as this book is fully loaded with all you need to become a confident horseman or horsewoman. Wonderfully narrated.

It gives a strong foundation and the tools you need to establish a good relationship with your horse so conflict will be to a minimum or non-existent. The narration was done very well making the content simple to understand even for beginners. Highly recommended to those that want to learn the fundamental skills needed to maintain control and be confident around horses! 5 stars!

A great finale to a greater trilogy!
Having grown up on a cattle ranch and spent much time working with horses, I am still deeply impressed by the knowledge that Augustus Wilson has brought to this introductory series. My hat is tipped to you! I particularly enjoyed the lessons in training your horse against spooking (I was once almost thrown from a horse because the sun glinted on a culvert in the ditch in a way he didn't like), as well as eliminating inside rein steering, which I always hated when riding a horse that had only been trained in that way. Be sure to get books 1 and 2 as well, the complete collection is essential listening, as well as purchasing physical copies for your shelf and gifting to friends! Loved it.

An insightful overview for beginners!
I found that this audiobook provided me with all of the foundations of horsemanship and made the process much less daunting. It covers areas from building a relationship with your horse to dealing with the challenges of working with horses. Where these creatures have their own personalities and dispositions, this audiobook highlights the practical ways of building on your horsemanship skills from the beginning.

If you own a horse then you need this book
I have ridden horses for over 60 years and we all learned by getting on and falling off! We never had set rules on how to actually take care of a horse, saddle a horse, curry a horse, and any of the other requirements of owning a horse. This is a great guide to laying the foundations of owning a horse and taking care of them. It will lay out the basics and teach you how to nurture and train your horse to get the best performance from them.
