About this listen
Jessica Kenner knew her 11-year marriage was far from perfect. But through it all, she had always felt that she and her husband, Charley, were a team. Until the day she found out about Betty, Charley's mistress. That was the day she made Charley pay for every lie and every rotten, underhanded, abusive thing he had ever done to her. But even lying dead on the basement floor, Charley was still a thorn in her side. A bottle of vodka, a quality set of carving knives, and 24 hours later the only question left was... what to do with his head?

Of course he is right. He is always right...
Even when he is wrong.
Married in her teens to the first man who asked her, Jessica's pleasure in the relationship quickly crumbled as Charlie, her husband, became increasingly domineering, cutting her off from any friendships, turning her into a virtual prisoner in her own home, talking at her, not listening, giving her a pittance for housekeeping and being violent and abusive over any little perceived offence towards him. Neighbours had heard her screams. She hadn't had new clothes for six years. Then, after eleven years with him, she discoveres her Charlie is having an affair. And she snaps
Simply written mostly from Jessica's perspective, this is the story of how she kills him and what happens afterwards. Quite bloody in parts, this is nevertheless an often very funny story, the sad heroine of the piece going through thought processes that many of us have doubtless felt at times; and despite her bizarre reactions, she has an innocence both irritating and endearing. It is hard not to mentally cheer her on.
Laura Wilson is the narrator and she takes the part of Jessica beautifully, her voice just that tiny bit whiney, which also conveys her moments of near madness, worry and exaultation. She also voices the other protagonists distinctively. A good choice to read this book.
My thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of How an Abused Housewife Murdered Her Cheating Husband, via Audiobook Boom. It was an amusing and easy to read book with some laugh out loud moments, perfect to bring a smile to a tedious afternoon. Just remember this is just fiction and 'dont try this at home'.

Sounds familiar...
I have a friend who married young too, and his wife became quite domineering. He wasn't allowed to play games with us online any more, he wasn't allowed to come visit anymore. He even found pre-written divorce papers in her drawers once and when he asked her why, she said it was in case she had to stop him from doing something...
This book is about what if that abused spouse can't take it any more. This is the story of how she kills him, and what she does afterwards. Some parts of his book had me laughing out loud, and as a previous reviewer has said, its hard not to cheer her on.
Highly recommend this book!
