Summary

If you thought your best friend deserved to die, could you kill her? From the author of The French Girl comes a novel full of secrets, suspense and deadly twists.

The perfect getaway - to get away with murder....

Georgie, Lissa and Bronwyn have been best friends since they met on their college swimming team. Now Lissa is dead - drowned off the coast of the remote island where her second husband owns a luxury resort. But could a star open-water swimmer really have drowned? Or is something more sinister going on?

Brought together for Lissa's memorial, Georgie, Bron, Lissa's grieving husband and their friends find themselves questioning the circumstances around Lissa's death - and each other. As the weather turns ominous, trapping the guests on the island, it slowly dawns on them that Lissa's death was only the beginning. Nobody knows who they can trust. Or if they'll make it off the island alive....

predictable

This was a predictable plot with a somewhat confusing narrator.
The narrator jumping from one character to another. Just too much back and forth between characters making it a bit difficult to follow at times.
a very basic story line

Wowee -this fabu thriller really does have it all!

Luxe Caribbean private island resort ... Check! These days I really insist on an exotic location for my thrillers to soothe my wanderlust.

Insider knowledge on speciality topic ... Check! As an avid swimmer, this delivered a real bonus delving into the tricks and techniques of the competition swimmer.

Ingenuity - Check, Check Check .... a lot of themes to really keep you gripped - at one stage I even forgot about one of the more mesmeric threats running through this nail-biting adventure - plus the setting: how lovely would a vast luxury holiday complex be if it was just you and your pals as it slowly shut down with the added menace of an attacker on the loose?

Interesting characters - Check. Yes I did not really care for any of them and an opportunity was lost by both the narrators (one in particular) for an alluring French accent which might well have made me fall for Jem - but though I would not wish to meet any of the group of ex Uni friends, they were, or at least the women were, very unusual and intriguing characters.

Spellbinding plot - Check, Check Check. Twists within twists, more slippery turns than a sea serpent, just when you thought all was revealed it was time for another shocker - this was the thriller that just kept thrilling!

Narration made it an easy listen though both actors were flummoxed at times by things like bow lines and substituting Titan for Titian ......... but all in all they told the story well.

If you are looking to get away from it all and enjoy turquoise seas, white beaches, a tightly woven plot which delivers twist after turn after thrill galore, plus an insight into the swimming world then this is for you.

Exciting and expertly crafted escapism in a world where it is difficult to getaway to that gorgeous island retreat in real life ... what's not to love?

Thank you so much to Lexie Elliot for giving my brain a wonderful and thrilling holiday - can't wait for my next escape flawlessly written by you - at home or hopefully this time abroad!

Really struggled with it

The swimming references were too much and the storyline disappointing. Maybe this would have been one for reading as opposed to listening.. struggled with it
