Summary

Wanting to go into business with his best friend, Evie, Calon never could have expected how his life would turn in an instant.

Rushing into the burning home of a neighbor, the unthinkable happens, and our fearless main character dies a hero. Only...he doesn't quite make it to the afterlife.

Thrust back in time and into an alternate reality of South East Queensland, Australia, Calon finds himself in a world, familiar in only the vaguest sense. Before he can come to grip with his new world, Calon is captured by a host of wolf-riding goblins.

With the help of sheer dumb luck, a borderline sarcastic set of popups, and the relatively low IQ of the previously mentioned goblins, our young hero stumbles into the role of the Summoner Class.

And accidentally calls forth someone...familiar.

Great Book

I really liked the story. The characters were good, and it was fun all around.

I didn't like the accents and parts of the pacing felt kinda of. (especially when the system was announcing something and just finished, and the characters just continue to speak without a stop like it was the same sentence)

That said, it was still very enjoyable, and I can only recommend it.

Holy Moly

Damn this is an amazingly hot book! I love all of Calun's summons, they are all very personable and have great personalities. Really really hoping for a sequel. Some of the hottest scenes I've heard and the narrators do a fantastic job with.

Good Story

Interesting story featuring an MC transmigrating to a parallel fantasy world after his death on earth.

Good work from the voice actors as performing with an Australian accent for over 7 hours.

Fantastic first instalment

A fantastic start to a promising series by Montgomery Quinn. Calon is a superb character to follow on his second chance in a magical world with some intersting characters joining him. Cannot wait for the next instalment, lucky that that the second book is already available on Audible. Raya Kane and Wayne Kelly did a great job with the narration.

This is one of those stories that is just a fun read or listen

I got this as a blind try. It seems like it’s cheap and poorly done but that makes the story work. Then it being located in the down under and the fine job the narrators did with the accent well a true gem. The story paints a picture that was fantastic. It reminds me of another book from the same place. Just got to wait for the next book.
Well done! 5*****

a good story with some minor issues

overall, this was a great story and the narrators did a good job pulling together a myriad of characters. the plot speeds off and is a nice setup for the strange alternative world, where the stakes feel more. personal.

the pacing sometimes feels a little fast and then slows dramatically in some areas - this isn't helped when the tone shift moves from first person to third at times (the narration is mostly third but then some parts drift into first person like "we awoke the the next day." or "they didn't notice us" - tense changes at minor points as well, plus the narrators use different words "emulate rather than immolate" but that could also be down to the fake Aussie accents they managed to carry off quite well!

the sex scenes were well done and the odd relationship dynamic was certainly unique - how it works going forward will be interesting to see.

Entertaining book

Great book, once you get used to the accents, the book and the characters come alive. Good job in the narrators.
