About this listen

Sadie's life is calm and complete. She is a mother, a good friend, and the robust survivor of a marriage she deliberately left behind. She has come to believe that she has everything she wants, or deserves. But now her father is dying; the vital, elusive man who spent his life creating perfumes for other women is slipping away from her. When she realises that she can never make her peace with him, Sadie begins to look back over her childhood to confront the truth about her father.©2003 Rosie Thomas (P)2014 Audible, Inc. I have loved all of Rosie Thomas's books but this one is a real disappointment. I found the characters so introspective and unlikable that I didn't care about them at all.

Such a disappointment!

I kept waiting to enjoy this book but never quite got there . I also found certain aspects of the story quite fanciful and frustrating. Having loved 'Iris and Ruby' and ' Midnight Sun' I was left disappointed. Rula Lenska is a spectacular narrator but the editing of paragraphs was annoying; Sometimes barely a second passed before jumping into the next para. Editor... Please note!

Not as enjoyable as others she has written.
