Summary
An unexpected inheritance from her grandmother offers Libby Pulford the opportunity to escape her abusive marriage and return to her Lancashire roots with her young son Ned. But her domineering husband Steven won't let her go so easily. She turns to her new neighbour for help, former police detective Joss Atherton, to whom Libby feels a growing attraction. But Joss has troubles of his own. Emily Mattison is trying to make contact with the daughter she was forced to give up for adoption so many years before. People's lives are destined to intertwine in ways they could never have imagined.

A little disappointing
This was the second book in the series.
Not as good or as gripping as the first book though.
Th story started off good and was interesting however, the narrator’s voices changed dramatically for Chad ans Emily. Giving Chad a Russian accent and Emily a plum in mouth tone. The voices of Toby also changed also.
So I was put off by the narrative somewhat.
The story was weaker also so not as good a read in my opinion.

Another great story
the character voices themselves are not consistent with the first book. the guy Chad sounds German but was a Southerner in the 1st book. That is bizarre

Exciting story
I really enjoyed the story and was sorry when it ended. I hope there will be another one in the series.
I was looking forward to hearing more about Chad and Emily from the first book but to my disappointment they were given completely different voices so they sounded like different people. This is frustrating, annoying and unnecessary as the narrator is the same. I don't know why Julia Franklin did this. A professional narrator should know better. Apart from this the book was great.
