Durante un soggiorno in Indonesia Giorgio Bettinelli riceve in regalo una vecchia Vespa. Fino ad allora non aveva mai guidato un veicolo a due ruote. Dopo il suo "apprendistato scooteristico" attraverso l'Indonesia, decide di tornare in Italia per intraprendere un viaggio da Roma a Saigon, con la sua ormai inseparabile Vespa.

Percorre 24000 chilometri, attraverso 10 paesi. Ciascun capitolo dell'audiolibro è ambientato in una delle diverse nazioni e narra di strade in pessime condizioni, di paesi "difficili" o tormentati da conflitti e guerriglie interne, ma anche di momenti di sfrenata libertà, di paesaggi indimenticabili e incontri con le persone più svariate, sullo sfondo di un'Asia misera e opulenta, tragica ed esilarante.
