About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry comes a small-town, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Winslow Covington believes in life, liberty, and the letter of the law. As Quincy, Montana’s new chief of police, she’s determined to prove herself to the community and show them she didn’t earn her position because her grandfather is the mayor.

According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town’s founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town, and she didn’t realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.

Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she’s trying to forget. He’s insufferable, arrogant, and keeps reminding everyone that she’s an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.

As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy’s own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.

Why has it taken me so long to start this series? Oh my goodness, I did not know it was going to be this good! 😍

Griffin Eden: rancher, bachelor, big brother. He’s proud of his family’s legacy in small town Quincy. He takes care of everyone and slipped into that role with Winn aswell. I love how their relationship progressed, and watching the former bachelor fall hard.

Winslow Covington: the new police chief in town, an “outsider” and the Mayor’s granddaughter. First of all I’m in love with her name 😍. She’s a badass and dedicates everything she has to her work. I love how she didn’t give up until she got the answers the people of Quincy deserved. She struggles with past trauma, and I loved how Griffin was there for her throughout.

I have a feeling this series is going to become my latest obsession, I can’t wait to read the rest of the Eden’s family stories! Also, they are all available on Kindle Unlimited so they should definitely be added to your TBR list!

☁️ Thoughts
I really enjoyed this start to the series. The connection between Win and Griffin was palpable, and their romance gripped me from the start. I do wish we had more focus on them as a couple throughout the book as the mystery plot took over at times. I still really enjoyed this, though, and I loved getting to meet the Eden family / seeing their dynamics together. I'm excited to continue on and read more from them!

Great small town romance!

I am obsessed with Deveny Perry books! This one had the murder mystery and romance all wrapped up and I was thriving on it! I don’t think I have ever powered through an audio book as quickly as this one. The plot, the characters, the links to Deveny’s book ‘The Birthday List’, I was melting.

Small town romances are amazing!

Masterful perfect duet narration of this prelude to Walton'esque family saga. Well written, well planned, good MCs in a cop tale of dramatic murders on the family ranch. The romance is powerful, not graphic, with enough detail to leave no confusion of the passionate interactions.

Ms Edwin, the female narrator, is possibly the best American voice actor on Audible not only for this female MC, but when she voices other characters. Superb ! What a very pleasant surprize.

VERY ENJOYABLE

This was a re-listen for me as I'm buddy reading it with a friend as she hasn't read it before and i have the last two books in the series to get to. I loved it just as much this time around as I did the first. I enjoyed everything about this, the small town, the family dynamics of the Edens, the relationship between Win and Griffin and how that develops, the mystery aspect was great when I first read it and took an unexpected turn which I enjoyed. Both narrators did a fantastic job with their performances.
