About this listen

Having a surfeit of super powers is great for battling bad guys and saving the world, as Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is finding out, but less useful in dealing with day-to-day situations - like bonding with his superhero father, adjusting to a team environment, and coping with what might be perceived as a growing rivalry between himself and another teen super. On top of all that, despite having a serious girlfriend, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to a new female super he's just met.

At the same time, some villain has just gotten himself a new toy: an unknown weapon of tremendous power that is able to strike without warning, causing unprecedented destruction and loss of life. Perhaps more terrifying, the wielders of this weapon make no demands and issue no threats; they simply attack. Even the Alpha League, the world's greatest superhero team, is not immune, suffering an assault on their very own doorsteps.

It quickly becomes clear that the only way to stop this new evil is from within. With his unique abilities, Jim is the only person capable of infiltrating the enemy's ranks. It's up to him to figure out who is behind these attacks, what they want, and find a way to stop them - and their secret weapon - before they bring the entire world to its knees.

Another Sensation

The hero everyone loves to listen to and this the 3rd book is no different as we are taken in on a new adventure.
In this case an unknown enemy is after everyone in the Alpha League and Jim is trying to come to grips with his place in the team.
Soon Jim finds himself in the situation as the only person to be able to solve this problen as he infiltrates the enemy.

An enjoyable aventure if a little obvious and another faultless narration from Narramore.

Super charged

This is the third Kid Sensation book in the series and the third one I have listened too. I really enjoyed it but I think this one is a bit slower on the action than the previous books. Still a good listen but not my favourite as I thought the rivalry between the teenagers was talked about but it wasn't there, no one throw a tantrum or a lighting bolt when they lost. Having said that I was fun listening to the challenges set for the different powers. I like that the characters feel like old friends but even if you haven't read or listen to the previous book there is enough detail to explain who every one is without getting re-petative .
With super heros popularity waning slightly from a few mishaps lately they decided to hold a charity competition between the teen super heros to boost morale. So Jim not only has to compete in the televised event but he also has to take down a mystery force that keep setting of bombs all before someone gets hurts and as the main targets seems to be his father he had better hurry.
Once again a brilliant choice for narrator , Mikael does such a good job for the different voices.

Super powered teen in a super powered world.

This book is easy enough to pick up without listening to the previous ones. Kevin Hardman does a good job letting you know enough about the characters, their history and relationships even if this is your first book in the series.

The writing is good crafting the events that unfold, the story is well paced and I never felt board or confused about what was happening in both high powered combat or more mundane situations. The whole book is written from one view point character that keeps it grounded and lets you get to know the main character and their thoughts.

The characters are believable and despite them having super powers they seem to be people with their own goals and motivations. Mikael Naramore adds to this doing another good job lending each character their own unique voice, helping to keep the story both immersive and engaging.

One thing that detracts a bit from the tension is that the main character is more than a little overpowered and despite all the things that happens to them I never felt there was any real risk to them. Their power set gives them at least one power suitable to get them out of almost any situation. Yet as with most high powered superhero stories it is the risks to others which motivates them more than the risks to them.

If you like superheros then this book is worth a listen and I am happy with the time I spent listing to it.

A good read!

Any additional comments?

I listened to Terminus by the same author and I loved it. So I thought I will give this ago. However, I found that I preferred Terminus to this book. I think the reason is that Terminus is different where as Infiltration (kids with superpowers) is not a new concept.
I still liked the book, there was action/adventure, a little romance, mystery and suspense.
I would recommend this book to any one who loves kids/adults with superpowers!
Would recommend you read book one because you would end up having a lot of questions if you don't. There is no cliff hanger in this book.

The narrator was good. I felt I was listening to different people.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audio book by the author.
