Summary
In Inside Studio 54, the former owner takes you behind the scenes of the most famous nightclub in the world, through the crowd, to a place where celebrities, friends, and the beautiful people sip champagne and share lines of cocaine using rolled-up 100-dollar bills.
In the early 80s, Mark Fleischman reopened Studio 54, the world's most glamorous and notorious nightclub, after it was closed down by the State of New York. Ten thousand people showed up that night, ready to restart the party that abruptly ended after the raid in 1978 landed its former owners in jail.
Inside Studio 54 invites you to revisit the happening scenes of the 1960s, '70s, and '80s, the post-Pill, pre-AIDS era of free love, consequence-free sex, and seemingly endless partying. Following Fleischman as he built connections as a hotel, restaurant, and club owner that lead him to Studio 54.
Inside Studio 54 takes the listener from Brazil to the heights of debauchery in the Virgin Islands and finally to New York City. A star-studded thrill ride through decadent and drug-fueled parties at the legendary Studio 54.
Critic reviews
"Now, as then, [Fleischman is] an eager, garrulous host, gleefully sharing his love of the place, and the time, and the drugs" (NPR)

Studio. 54
I don’t get the previous reviews. I thought this book was soooo good. The guy has to tell us how to got to where he was when he bought the club. He’s a lucky guy he’s still here to tell the tell. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant!
Such an iconic venue at a time when there were so many interesting characters on the scene, and so much social change happening. The evolution of a generation, a city and a venue. Highly recommend

Too many name checks but a thorough rendition.
The list of names who worked there or visited is..endless.

Bored
After numerous chapters that keeps repeating the name Studio 54, which is annoying. I can’t say I know anymore about the iconic club than I did before. Have given up due to boredom with no signs that it might improve by sticking with it. Will look out for books that cover the 1976-1980 era which I’m sure will be a more entertaining read.

Giving up on this book...
Never though partying with celebs, sex and drugs could SO boring! To start with, the first 9 chapters is all about the author’s life, feels it goes on forever and not very relevant to the Studio 54 history. I started reading the book and switched to Audible as I felt I was loosing quite lot of time sat in the sofa reading….. Bad idea! The narrator is the most boring performer I have ever come across in audible books (especially when what you want is to get the exciting feeling of being at Studio) , when I though I was finally getting to the end of the book , I was only half way through, there are some good parts but the stories get a bit repetitive at some point. This review is only for 50% of the book, I had to give up on it...

So unbelievably dull
The editor of this book should have done more editing…couldn’t finish it and husband, who was really excited to listen to this, preferred to talk family logistics over the top… dull…
