Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable, audiobook edition of Inside Vogue, written and read by Alexandra Shulman.

Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Shulman kept a diary of British Vogue's Centenary year. And what a year. She reveals the emotional and logistical minefield of producing the 100th anniversary issue (that Duchess of Cambridge cover surprise), organizing the star-studded Vogue 100 Gala, working with designers from Victoria Beckham to Karl Lagerfeld and contributors from David Bailey to Alexa Chung. All under the continual scrutiny of a television documentary crew.

But narrowly-contained domestic chaos hovers - spontaneous combustion in the kitchen, a temperamental boiler and having to send bin day reminders all the way from Milan fashion week. For anyone who wants to know what the life of a fashion magazine editor is really like, or for any woman who loves her job, this is a rich, honest and sharply observed account of a year lived at the centre of British fashion and culture.

Interesting

Alexandra Shulman’s voice is at first monotonous and difficult to listen to. After a while it is the essence of this interesting account of ‘a day in the life of’ story.

Wonderful Memories!

Shulman reads this expertly and tells it warts and all. A bit biased, politically, but that’s her prerogative. Definitely one for any listener interested in the minutiae of the fashion world!

An enjoyable audio book and fascinating

Not being in the world of fashion but a marriage therapist I was interested in this world from AS ' s viewpoint. She talks about relationships with everyone she comes into contact with including Coco the cat. Even the plumbers .. she is unpretentious and thoughtful and I liked her and the book enormously. Undoubtedly Fabulous!

Inside Vogue has given me far more than a privileged insight to the hard working staff at this iconic magazine. It allowed me to escape from my equally busy mind and emmerse myself into the wonderful world of fashion. Alexandra a fantastic writer, narrated this in such a way, that you felt you were travelling alongside her on a very exciting 100th Vogue year. Her wit and honesty at times threw me, she often said what I was thinking particularly politically, and I am sure many people could relate to her in many ways. By the end of the book I actually felt I had made a new friend! Favourite moments (without giving it away) - was the response to the Duchess of Cambridge finalised cover by a colleague, which was hilariously funny along with shared personal moments of her lovely son Sam and her love David. A true treasure of a read! VJP

What a great insight into British Vogue!

Essentially the diary of a working woman at the height of her career this is so straightforward and surprisingly unpretentious. A courageous and highly skilled leader, Aleandra Shulman has gone even further up in my list of role models. I enjoyed every minute of the book.

Why oh! Why ....

Just because someone writes a book
It does not mean they are the best person to read it
For me a dreadful listen
