About this listen

Number one German best seller

"I have no idea how late it actually is. We flew off somewhere this morning, and my cell phone automatically turns off the clock if we're getting close to a new time zone by plane. Mile by mile, the bus pushes through the inner city. Budapest seems to be quite big. We are in the middle of rush hour traffic. As it is Friday, everyone wants to get out of the city very quickly. But nothing works quickly here at all."

Flake, the legendary keyboardist for the German band Rammstein, takes listeners on a journey of what it is to be a touring musician. The excitement, the boredom, the moments that will be remembered and those that are forgotten. It's the World's Birthday Today is a strange and moody book about life on the road.

If you are a fan of Rammstein or intrested in the beginnings of the band or the life of touring musician, this should be right up your street. Flake is humble and self deprecating with his skewed view of the world and life.

Essential if you are a Ram Fan

The musings of Herr Flake, including a blow by blow account of what it's like to be performing a set and touring with the band. interspersed with memoirs and his thoughts on life.

Entertaining read for Rammstein fans

I'll never be in a band and tour the world so this was a fascinating listen. There are amusing tangents, but the timeline is a little confusing sometimes, a few dates here and there would be helpful. The other band members remain enegmatic; only a few details are shared about them as individuals, and that's mainly on their work ethic.
The narrator is enthusiastic and engaging, but I'm guessing he's not a Rammstein fan based on the way he pronounces the song titles.

An interesting synopsis of band life

The book is okay if you wish to hear the musings on life by a man nearing his 50s. If you are expecting lots of info and stories on RAMMSTEIN, there are a few scattered about but probably not what you expect. But by far the worst thing is that the narrator has an american accent and can't for the life of him pronounce any german word in this book correctly. Generally; a waste of credit.

A very underwhelming purchase
