About this listen

Listen to J. Kingston Platt's amazing experiences in the wonderful world of show biz, including many indiscreet revelations, with names disguised to avoid libel actions and death threats. Based largely on distinguished actor Peter Jones' own experiences, it is a hilarious account of life on the theatre.©1994 CSA Word (P)1994 CSA Word Literature & Fiction Witty Funny

Peter Jones king of comedy"

The audio presentation is scrappy (no gaps between the chapters, no titles for the chapters) but never mind, these are totally brilliant comic monologues. Writing, delivery--you will rarely hear anything this good.

What a pity that there is no more of this. amusing, light hearted comedy. Absolutely unmissable.

Brilliantly funny and exceptional narration.

Peter Jones, who you may have seen in various bit parts in classic English 50’s movies (but very probably not) or perhaps heard on BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute (more likely but still probably not) was simply a beautiful human being and I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise.

The unsung genius of British comedy

Actor Peter Jones as his alter-ego. Perfect prose delivered perfectly. A must for fans of the great man of the British theatre.

The late Peter Jones in full flight.

I love these stories - why only 6 though as there are more of them! Peter Jones always stole the show even in small parts - a brilliantly funny actor. Please let us have the rest of these fabulous tales

LOVELY PETER JONES

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Sadly the sound quality at 32kbps is no better than dodgy internet sites out there - and given the price tag it is poor value for money. There is no way to transfer to an MP3 player and at three hours plus no track markings or index points - stick to the repeats on BBC 4 Extra where you can just love Peter Jones' wonderful creation in all his glory.
