About this listen

The complete second series of BBC Radio 4's award-winning sketch show - winner of the Chortle Radio Award of the Year.

In these six episodes, which make up the complete second series, you'll hear some moth-based lunacy, an awkward celestial relationship, a heart-warming tale of the days before health and safety, and how The Archers sounds to people who don't listen to The Archers - plus many other sketches featuring acute observations and wonderful wordplay.

Love John Finnemore

So glad to have these episodes always available. John Finnemore's often astonishingly original humour is wonderful. And this series has the vulture interview which is one of my all time favourites 😊

A true work of genius. Witty, original and spellbinding. Worth every penny. John Finnermore is one of the most talented comedians of our time

Brilliant comedy

I love Cabin Pressure and in these shows the brilliant wit of John Finnemore continues to delight. All types of humour are there and the cast perform the sketches excellently. Clever word play and some very thought-provoking ideas make you laugh but also have a resonance that lingers.

not as funny as cabin pressure, but good!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, because john finnemore was very funny as usual, and very clever with the ideas and turning them into scripts. I would however say that cabin pressure (john finnemore's other main project) is even more funny and you sympathise with all of the characters much more, and the longer storyline gives more opportunities for jokes based on understanding of the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

it was original, different, and very enjoyable

What about John Finnemore’s performance did you like?

he knows how to deliver the lines just right, with the rest of the cast it is very funny, and as they can all do different voices and accents it prevents it from becoming dull

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I don't have many long blocks of time, so I couldn't listen to the whole thing in one go anyway. this doesn't matter though because the individual sketches are only about 3 minutes long each and so I could stop it whenever I needed, and come back. the jokes aren't repetitive though so it would have been just as good if I had done it in one go

Any additional comments?

if you know john finnemore from cabin pressure, then this is a good way to pass the time with the same sort of wit as he shows with martin, Douglas and Arthur. if however this is the first time you have come across JF then although this is funny, I would recommend cabin pressure for better value for money, as everyone likes it, and there is more wit and banter between the characters.
