Summary
Sell the cemetery? Over their dead bodies.... Not many people can see the dead (and not many would want to). Twelve-year-old Johnny Maxwell can. And he's got bad news for them: the council want to sell the cemetery as a building site. But the dead aren't going to take it lying down... especially since it's Halloween tomorrow.
Besides, they're beginning to find that life is a lot more fun than it was when they were... well... alive. Particularly if they break a few rules.

A brilliant read
Sir Terry Pratchett's Johnny Maxwell series is well worth listening to. Pratchett's humour shines through and pokes fun at real life in this time travelling masterpiece.

Halloween Hilarity
Johnny and the Dead is the second book in the Johnny Maxwell Trilogy, - and my personal favourite of the series.
I read Only You Can Save Mankind several times as a kid since its release, but unfortunately didn't encounter Johnny and the Dead until October 1997 via the abridged audiobook read by Tony Robinson, - as much as I loved it, it's better to have the full story.
So, Book Two sees Johnny and the gang endeavouring to help a collection of ghosts, (but don't call them ghosts 🤣), after the cemetery is threatened to be demolished.
Brilliant throwback for lifelong fans of Terry Pratchett, brimming with charm and imagination, it is a real joy to listen to this trilogy as an adult. On top of which, Richard Mitchley is absolutely superb as a narrator.

Cool Book
Our eldests first foray into the mind of Terry Pratchett and he loves it. In his 12yr old words "it's dead cool" He's listened to it many times now and never seems to tire of it.

Enjoyable story, but not recorded well 👎🏻👎🏻
I enjoyed the story, but the recording had missed words in several chapters, and the audio jumped ahead.
