Summary

More than a mere overview, the audiobook offers listeners a strong grounding in the basic principles of Jung's analytical psychology in addition to illuminating insights.

"Probably the best one-volume English language summary of Jung's thought." (Choice)

"Himself a widely regarded analyst, Stein presents Jung's major theoretical contributions in language as uncomplicated as the subject allows...Aimed at the general reader but sufficiently academic for the specialist, this is an excellent basic book on the subject." (Booklist)

"Writing for the general reader, Stein provides an outline of Jung's basic concepts that is clearly written and indicates some of the distinctions between Jung's thinking and Freud's." (Publishers Weekly)

Brilliant content marred by poor narration

The narration was so fast and monotonous that it was very difficult to maintain focus on ideas that I otherwise found enthralling.

The Content is 1st Class

Don't be put off listening to this great book due the negative feed back as regards the narration speed.
All I did was notch the playback speed on the App down to 0.95x and it plays good enough (I wonder if the problem of speed as been caused in the editing studio). Enjoy!

Breathless!

I so wanted to experience this audible book… but I found the gentleman reader’s voice as extremely irritating. It’s like a perpetual advertisement! Like he’s surprised and excited when I wanted a calmer, less enthusiastic voice so I could let the material settle in me…
Disappointing 🥴

Good analysis of Jung’s work...but

The problem with this audiobook is the breathless pace at which it was delivered. Why on earth did it need to be spoken at such an unintelligible speed? The listener just has no opportunity to take it all in. The content itself is very good but needs to be taken in at a more measured pace if the listener is to succeed in processing the ideas presented.

Simple (relatively) explanation of the Jungian system.

If you are interested in anything Jungian then this is a good starting point. It explains and defines all the core ideas and concepts as clearly as they can probably be described.

Truly terrible, amateurish narration of an important book

It’s very disappointing to have an important introduction to a very important cultural and scientific figure given over to a frankly amateurish narrator.

There is precious little understanding of the material, the pace is too quick, and it feels totally underprepared.

The author deserves a great deal better.

can't get passed the narrator's voice

I believe the book is good but can't get passed the narrator's voice which I find so ennoying I can't get to grips with the subject. Have now ordered the book.

Unlistenable

The reader has a voice that is too challenging for me to listen to and he speaks too quickly for such a complex subject. Do not buy this. Get the book.
