About this listen
Steven Pressfield brings to life the flair, agility, and daring of this extraordinary historical commando unit, the Long Range Desert Group. He describes in detail the tactics, weaponry, and specialized skills needed for combat under extreme desert conditions. He captures, too, the camaraderie of this "band of brothers" as they perform the acts of courage and cunning crucial to the Allies' victory in North Africa. As in his acclaimed earlier novels, Pressfield combines historical accuracy and edge-of-your-seat battle scenes to create riveting fiction.

A great story and insight to the North African Campaign. Brilliant listen and I’ll be sure to listen to again in the future.

Steven Pressfield does it again!
wonderful story and narration. the author has the ability to bring history to life. I cared about the characters and the missions. I don't want to give anything away, suffice to say that i relistened to the final 45 minutes the morning after I finished the audiobook and it was just as powerful the 2nd time.

Brilliant story
A gripping tale with the perfect narrator. Even though it’s historical so you know the outcome it’s full of tension because you get so behind the characters.

Should be called "Oh Look It's Rommel"
I am not going to be negative about this book. It is an excellent tale, but the title is a little confusing.
You would be forgiven for thinking that this is about killing Rommel. It really isn't, Rommel is merely a side issue in this book.
It is however a cracking yarn of endurance in the desert and the mentality of those involved in the North Africa campaign. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I was waiting for a showdown with Rommel.... and in that regard I was disappointed.
Molina initially seemed an odd choice for narration of this book. But his English accent is brilliant, he pulls it off where American actors normally can't.
A good book, excellently narrated, but badly titled. It would be like the 'Wizard of Oz' being renamed 'Housebuilding in Kansas'.

Gripping and profound
This is an exceptional work. A strong favourite of mine, I?m not prone to my emotions but this work was deeply affecting. It is a reminder of the courage of my grandparent's generation. With little exception the actions of the characters described in this book are true and put a lump in my throat even now.

oh yes! Splendid
This is a fine, fine book, a bit too real in some respects, hits very hard and leaves no room for nostalgia and adventure although there's plenty of it, if leaves an unpleasant aftertaste, that's war I suppose, a most unpleasant business, damn fine read...
