After a supernatural showdown with a serial killer, Evie O'Neill has outed herself as a Diviner. Now that the world knows of her ability to "read" objects and therefore read the past, she has become a media darling, earning the title, "America's Sweetheart Seer". But not everyone is so accepting of the Diviners' abilities....

Meanwhile, mysterious deaths have been turning up in the city, victims of an unknown sleeping sickness. Can the Diviners descend into the dreamworld and catch a killer?

This is the elephant's eyebrows!

Enjoyed this second installment as much as the first and can't wait to move onto the third book!! January LaVoy is amazing at bringing the characters and story to life. May be the best audiobooks I have listened to.

January LaVoy is a Narration Goddess

Just as good as book 1 and just as creepy, January LaVoy brings this story to life again with her outstanding narration.

as good as the first one

this was really good. You got to see more of certain characters, less of others (which wont suit everybody since it's a bit different from the first book). And you get to see more of other characters, not just Eevie which I appreciated. However, I thought the story was a bit jumpy and too long so I had a hard time following. Other than that its interesting as usual, you can barely put it down. I recommend continuing! Also I hate love triangles but maaan lmao, kinda into it.

Positivily brilliant!

Oh wow!! So spooky and sensational and just as sassy as book one! The narrator is brilliant. Loved the accents and depth that came with the individual characters.

The tension and chill in this book is real! I was captivating and frightened and entertained!

It starts off slow and the individual character plots often felt disconnected to the main story until the climax, when it all started to come together, and that moment was totally mind blowing!! I truly didn’t expect that!

I’m so excited for the next book!

** Favourites moments: every scene with Evie and Sam - I’m a total simp for it!!

“I’ve spent the last two hours worried that you were bleeding to death in a ditch,” Evie continued. “Now that I know you’re okay, I just want you to be bleeding to death in a ditch.”
“Aww, Lamb Chop, you missed me.”

Enjoyable but the story didn't captivate me

There were a lot of characters in the first book of this series, some I wanted to be explored further and others who I thought should take a back seat. This is very subjective, I understand. But this sequel adds more characters and, I believe, focuses too much on new characters. Our protagonist is missing for large portions of the story. When, actually, her plotline is one of the more interesting parts of the book and should have had more time to be explored.
