About this listen

Some Amish communities aren't so cozy.

The death of a teenage Amish girl in a cornfield looks like an accident, but sheriff Serenity Adams suspects foul play. To solve the murder, she must investigate the nearby Amish community with the help of a man who was shunned years ago.

At first glance, the case seems obvious. The poor girl was probably accidently shot during hunting season, but when the elders of the Amish community and even the girl's parents react with uncaring subdued behavior, Serenity becomes suspicious. As she delves deeper into the secretive community that she grew up beside, she discovers a gruesome crime from the past that may very well be related to the Amish girl's shooting.

Serenity's persistence leads her to a stunning discovery that not only threatens to destroy her blossoming romance with Daniel Bachman, but may even take her life in the end.

Great story and performance

This was a really great story from the offset but what I really enjoyed was the way 3 stories played out alongside each other, or the same story from 3 perspectives. All narrators gave an excellent performance. Can’t wait to go to the next in the series.

A bit too obvious

An interesting topic, likeable characters but just not enough depth or intrigue for me. Though I did manage to listen to all of it.

Well done story - unnecessary foul language

The storylne was great; unique method from the victim throughout; told from various characters; well woven plot and story. HOWEVER the author flies off in tirades of foul language that is totally uncalled for, not necessary, it adds NOTHING to the story and I found both abrupt and offensive! For that reason I gave it only 1 star overall!!! DISAPPOINTED!
