Summary
One week before Jake Rutledge is scheduled to graduate from law school, he receives the devastating news of the death of his fraternal twin, Blake. What makes this death even more terrible for Jake is that his brother died of a drug overdose. Until hearing of his death, Jake had no idea his brother was even using drugs.
When Jake returns home to Oakley, West Virginia, he takes a hard look at the circumstances of his brother's death. In the five years Jake has been away for his schooling, his hometown has drastically changed. Because of the opioid epidemic and the blight it has brought, many now call Oakley "Zombieland". Jake can see how his town's demise parallels his brother's.
Undeterred, the newly minted lawyer takes on the entrenched powers by filing two lawsuits. Jake quickly learns what happens when you upset a hornet's nest. The young attorney might be wet behind the ears, but he is sure there is no lawyer that could help him more than Nick "Deke" Deketomis and his law firm of Bergman/Deketomis. Deke is a legendary lawyer. When he was Jake's age he was making his name fighting Big Tobacco. Against all odds, Jake gets Nick and his firm to sign on to his case before it's too late.

interesting story but wooden narration
the principle of the story is not only interesting but eye opening too. However, the language used is basic at best and the narration is significantly less interesting than my mum reading her out her shipping list

brilliantly written
loved this book , story kept me hooked until the end and to hear the author is also a lawyer going up against the drug manufacturers makes it even more compelling.
sorry that the narrator is rather wooden, makes it difficult to listen too. Luckily the author writes so well you have to persevere.

storyline
akthough I found it strange that the main character was not found by the experts, and there seem to be so many corrupt individuals both in law and government, the storyline rang true.

Insightful and frightening tangled webs relating the opiate epidemic in the US
A novel that aims to educate us of the extend of the problem. The story is about the start of a legal fight against government and pharmaceutical companies . I hope there will be additional books that follow the case and showing the development
of the characters . Easy listening but very insightful.

First audiobook I’ve not finished
A good idea for a story but the awful, wooden narration made it totally unlistenable.
