Summary
Août 1914 : Adèle a treize ans et demi, bientôt quatorze. Elle commence son journal et lui confie les rêves qu'elle a dans la tête : devenir institutrice par exemple, épouser un garçon de la ville. Mais la guerre est là. Cette fois, c'est sûr, on va regagner l'Alsace et la Lorraine. Et elle sera courte, cette guerre. Les deux frères d'Adèle reviendront pour les vendanges, au pire pour Noël. Mais la guerre s'enlise, s'enterre dans les tranchées : quatre années de froid, de boue, de sang. Et quand sonnera enfin l'armistice, le 11 novembre 1918, toutes les familles auront versé leur tribut de deuil à la Grande Guerre.
