It was a history of the conflicts in the Middle East and a personal family history at the same time. The two histories intimately connected through out the story of the ‘Orrible little Monarch’ as he was called by his Sergeant Major at Sandhurst. It is as close to being a part of the family as can be, but I’m very conscious that it is just one view of that family. The plotting and scheming between Prince Hamza and King Abdullah is an example how family intrigues can seep into public life and visa versa.
I spent about six weeks in Jordan two years ago. Most people I met were almost angelic with their hospitality and love for the King. I understand a little bit more why that is the case..
