Summary
Reviewers Choice Best Fantasy Romance Series of 2016 - The Muse Chronicles (Paranormal Romance Guild)
"Another beautiful series from an unbelievable author. She gets me every time." (Number one NYT best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon)
The prophecy: Every generation, the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.
Callie O'Connor's life has never been the same since the Muse of Epic Poetry came alive inside of her. Now, she's on the other side of the country, working as civilian psychologist for the Navy and leading her Muse sisters in their quest to reopen the Theater of the Muses.
But nothing could have prepared her for Hunter Armstrong. He's a Navy SEAL - driven, confident, and dangerous. And he plans to do more than just protect her.
The gods couldn't have picked a better Guardian. But as Hunter soon discovers, Callie has some skeletons of her own in the closet, and loving her could lead to his destruction.

I’m loving this series.
I listened to the first book in this series a year ago and fully intended to continue listening to the rest of the series. I’m not sure why I didn’t do that then. I decided to jump back in because Lisa Kessler will be a featured author at a book convention I’m attending next February and I wanted to get back to this series before the convention; I’m so glad that I decided to continue listening to this series.
If I remember correctly, book one set up the premise for the series. I’ve read at least 300 books since I listened to book one so I was actually surprised at how much came back to me when I started listening to this book. I think this series is probably best read in order to get the most out of it but the author does cover some of the details you need to understand what’s going on.
I don’t know a thing about Greek mythology but I didn’t need to; I enjoyed listening to this very much. The story is filled with mystery, action and secret things and I couldn’t put it down once I started listening to it. The romance for the main couple is solid but the story has what I call a soft cliffhanger. No one is left in immediate danger but the threat that connects all of the stories in the series isn’t yet resolved. I’m ready to jump right in to the next book and this time I won’t be deterred! 😊
Gwendolyn Druyor did a good job performing this story.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
