I thought this was a fantastic book that gave a completing, comprehensive and yet accessable explanation of a huge range of economic theories. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the history behind today's economics. I'll be listening to it again shortly.

I am not an economist, far from it, I am not even interested in the subject as my personal interests are in Quantum Mechanics, Neurology and AI, but I got the book purely because the title interested me and I thought, why not give it a go. To my surprise I actually enjoyed the read and found myself entering into some very interesting discussions with friends over its contents and suggestions. Hence I am recommending it here especially for non-economists like me!

The absorbing and compelling story of how and why modern economics is almost entirely wrong headed. And an example of what happens when the use of maths becomes an end in and of itself, while being employed to describe and prescribe precisely nothing that actually exists in any underlying reality.

The book is a very good analysis of what is wrong with modern economics, or what is often referred to as neoliberalism. It's written in a way that is highly accessible to the layman and reader and I found it gives me hope that there are better ways of managing our affairs than the current post Thatcher model. The book confirms many intuitions I felt that many of economic principles we follow are based on a series of very flawed assumptions.

I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking at the world with alarm and wants an alternative to the orthodoxy.
