Summary
Lily, a heartbroken editor from London, has just learned the hard way that love is unpredictable. After finding her fiancee entangled with another woman, she travels to Bali to recover from her failed relationship.
River is a womanizing artist with a troubled past and serious commitment issues. She traded a successful career in L.A. for a quiet, anonymous life in Bali where she works as a tour guide on weekends.
After the two meet on an excursion led by River, Lily is shocked to find herself curiously drawn to her new friend. Lily has never been involved with a woman before but she can't seem to get the charming and persuasive blonde out of her head.
Is this newly awakened fire just a moment in time? Or has destiny led them exactly where they needed to be?

Awful narration!
I just couldn't go on, the narration was painful, had to end it an hour in.

Entertaining, Funny with Tense Moments
First of all I should explain that I was given a promo code for this Audible title and the author was previously unknown to me, as was the narrator.
On the whole I found this an entertaining story. It’s the first time I’ve listened to a story before reading it and I found that slightly odd, having no preconceived ideas or images in my head. Once I’d become used to that I settled in and enjoyed the storyline, the humour and the angst, the "will they, won't they" uncertainty (even though I hoped for a happy ending).
There were occasional slow areas when I just wanted the narrator to hurry up and get the story flowing and unfolding again but they weren’t enough to make me fast forward through the narration.
I found some of the narration a little bit too earnest and Lily's mother especially jarred every now and then. This, of course, may have been difficult for me only because I’m not used to such over-exuberance. I certainly wouldn’t reject the story just because it took me a little bit out of my comfort zone. It may be an English reticence on my part!
There were just a few minor irritations in pronunciation and one (repeated) that infuriated me. I haven’t been able to discover if C.C.Sinclair is British. If she IS, then I am appalled. If she isn’t there's still no excuse - someone should have picked up on the cringe-inducing pronunciation of High Wycombe. No, it’s NOT W+EYE+KUHM. It's WIK+UHM. Always has been. In all my 67 years, some lived not all that far away from the town, I have NEVER, EVER heard it pronounced any way other than WIKUHM.
If that isn’t enough to put you off, then I’d highly recommend this story for its humour, its well-drawn and colourful characters and interesting story line.

Wonderful story.
Lise Gold’s story telling is wonderful and with an introduction to the island of Bali.
I would have preferred an enhanced ending or a follow up but I’m not the writer.
My only criticism was the narration which was odd to say the least, especially with mispronunciation and awful attempt at different British accents, better to just change inflection than try and fail at accents, which jarred badly.
Nevertheless despite this I enjoyed the book immensely.
