About this listen

Revealed: How pro-Israel lobbying groups influence the Middle East policies of Britain, the US, and others

In 1896, a Jewish state was a pipe dream. Today the overwhelming majority of Jews identify as Zionists. How did this happen?

Ilan Pappe unveils how a lobby changed the map of the Middle East. Zionists exerted pressure on the Congress, cracked down on dissent in the Labour Party, and relentlessly smeared critics. Groups funded by the Israeli state pushed for unprecedented military aid, recognition of unlawfully occupied territories, and the erasure of Palestinian rights. Lobbying for Zionism shows us how a dangerous consensus was built-and how it might be dismantled.

The amount of detail and the meticulous research. Absolutely confirms the suspicion that Israel has seized the opportunity to complete for once and for all the devastation of Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. So depressing to realise that governments have had less and less regard for basic humanity and human rights over the years. Thank you Ilan Pappe for your documentation of the terrible road to this cruel genocide.

Finally, a book shows the reality of the USA and Great Britain. Those names need to be crossed and replaced with the name of Israel. That is what it is. The same goes for Germany, which is trying to wash its hands of the atrocities it did to innocent people with the Jewish religion.

This book is essential reading for the masses of people who seek a deeper understanding of the power balance in the Middle East right now between Israel and Palestine. But it’s length will deter some readers. A short version, fact-driven would be highly compelling and play a valuable role in improving the quality of debate right now. The narrator as well was truly awful. The mispronunciation and over pronunciation of words detracts from the books credibility and gets v irritating to listen to in a long book. But the author is to be commended for such a vital work.

An essential book but too long and narration awful

Fascinating detail about the way that the lobby for Israel developed on both sides of the Atlantic. I watched the Al Jazeera document The Lobby many years ago. It's strange that politicians can be so out f touch with their constituents - although the book ended at the time of 7/10 and the Icj Ruling on genocide hasn't yet been delivered. A later historians view of the current period will be very interesting. I think however I feel a bit more optimistic than Pappe. The current events are so disastrous that I feel that we could be heading for a change, even with Trump I reinstated as president.

Excellent information on the infamous lobby.

This is an incredibly important book. It's length is justified by the fact this is a complex story. It should be among the books one reads when trying to understand Israel.

The actual narration is slightly disappointing. The reader seems to have serious difficulties with pronounciation - one standout example being the Dimona plant being in the "Nakab" desert.

Really important book

Read this book. It tells you all you need to know about why Israel gets away with so much. Why it has all but destroyed the international order. Well researched and a very readable, and very well read too.
