About this listen

This book is inspired by true events but is not a biography.

The truth is My Truth is not The Truth, and that's as honest as I can be. It's partially true, rather than painfully true, and I have possibly been economical with the truth, Your Honour.

Basically, I made this sh*t up...

While James Blunt's crimes against music are well-documented, he also has some stories that are not. In Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story, James reveals his most riotous anecdotes to date for your amusement - and his parents' horror - in this highly anticipated non-memoir.

From his questionable Norfolk roots, eccentric family, boarding school antics, misjudged military service, rise to music stardom and tour escapades, James delves into his (surprisingly) fascinating life to date. What do you do when your mother writes irate emails to the future prime minister defending your honour? What does it take to run a male escort agency? And why exactly should you refrain from crowd-surfing? Find out here, folks...

Were the stories in this book grossly exaggerated in an attempt to impress? Maybe. But one thing is for certain: you won't want to miss it.

I loved this hilarious and honest book! as well as being very funny, James Blunt comes across as decent and self-aware. In stark contrast to the snide comments and immature posturing of Gallagher, Alburn and Weller. I know who I’d rather go for a pint with.

Makes his detractors look like dickheads

It was like listening to him tell stories like we were sat in a pub, didn’t hold back and it was a fantastic listen.

The story telling was fantastic

I really knew very little about James before listening to this book and wouldn’t necessarily have been a fan. The anecdotes are hilarious and it’s clear he takes all the showbiz nonsense with a large pinch of salt.
I really recommend this book and found myself walking on the beach in Donegal laughing out loud to it. Did get a few odd looks from other walkers but if you can cope with people giving you a wide berth when you’re listening, then give this book a go.

Laugh Out Loud!!

This was such an enjoyable read. It had me laughing in the first few minutes and I was hooked until the end. I like the dry, sarcastic humour that James indulges in and this is conveyed well in his tone. I was happy to discover that it is indeed a memoir, but he's made it more exciting and silly with his embellishments!
With him adding and changing bits it also gets you thinking about what is and isn't true with some of the stories which I thought was fun! I'm a big fan of James's music and look forward to seeing him live next year, I knew a bit about his life but not much! I was surprised he lives in Ibiza and loves clubbing! The onlv bit I didn't like was the end chapter of mean things the press have said about him, it made me uncomfortable but l'm not sure it bothers him in the slightest, so I should find it funny too, but I just find it needlessly cruel and unkind. Overall a very interesting and enjoyable book, I'd highly recommend.

Funny, engaging and interesting, couldn’t stop listening!

All the better for being read by James Blunt himself. Some funny stories nicely told and as James says in the title, probably made up.

Very enjoyable. Listened to it in one session - more or less

The stories at the start seem a little absurd, but persevere and it’s well worth your time. A very eventful and interesting life story, whether you like him or not !

Very interesting & entertaining !

Absolutely loved the book! Performance, of course is great! A bit shocked by the details, but it couldn't be otherwise!

Nothing like listening his story from him!
