As good as ever
I’m used to hearing background sound in shorter stories, but this audiobook uses the effects from start to finish. Sometimes it sets the scene better than the text does.

Another great one
This was a change of pace from the usual soap opera and romance stories I usually listen to. It’s just two people telling stories, but some of the stories are shared by the two. They each have their own dramas.

Another extraordinary story
Different. I can forgive the many quirks of the narrative and shifts in time if I concentrate on the many, many shorter stories told within the longer one. There are different narrators and sound effects throughout. I think I’ll listen again in a shorter time frame to catch some of the stuff I’m sure I missed.

Best Charlie Parker since the first.
I stared listening to this in my car but found it better with ear buds at home. Lots of stuff going on in this book. It’s one long, slow story that’s actually many littler stories. Sound effects are okay and can also be appreciated more in ear buds

Another great story in the Charlie Parker saga.
Wow, what a blast of nostalgia. There are two characters remembering as far back as the 1960s, and I remember the same things happening! This and the sound effects took me right back. I could actually picture what was happening.

best one yet
This story uses flashbacks most of the time, but bounces back to present day to move to the next person’s flashback. Never saw this before in a book. Sometimes now and then seem to blend, but it kept my interest.

Something different
Cool sound effects. Most full length books don’t use sound effects so well. Not so many that they are distracting, but enough to heighten some drama and make you feel like you’re there. Story covers a few decades, so there’s plenty of stories within stories.

Awesome telling of life in the northern woods
Very interesting audiobook. Two people tell each other their life stories that cross over many historical events, most in the US. Some personal drama too. Some repetition, but it’s okay.

Excellent
For just a couple of old people sitting around telling campfire stories, this recording sure has a lot of action. Sports, cults, insanity, politics, cheating, murder, conspiracy theories, and more. Told in the voices of a man and a woman who can sound younger or older depending on the part of the story.

Enjoying very much
Two characters performed by two readers, but some extra characters sneak in when the readers tell their stories within the story. Some weird wording, though. Could have used some editing, but it doesn’t get in way of the story. I didn’t see that ending coming.
