About this listen
Jamie Hernandez loves his life. He has his family, his friends, and a successful freelance career at just 23. The only thing missing? His monster. The one Jamie has seen in his dreams for the past five years. Jamie doesn’t know much about the enigmatic man from his visions, but he doesn’t need to. He knows enough. He knows they belong together.
Lucien Volaire has been losing his mind for almost half a century, the monster within him steadily taking greater control over his thoughts and actions. He’s destroyed everything he’s touched, including the people he’s cared for. The one thing that could stop his final descent into madness? A mate. So when Luc meets a young man in the desert, one who smells like heaven and doesn’t run in fear, Luc knows he’s met his last chance at redemption.
But the more Lucien is enchanted by Jamie, the more reluctant he is to taint him with his own vampire curse. Can Lucien find a balance between love and obsession? Or will those that want Luc out of their territory step in before he has a chance?
Lucien is a heated, fated-mates MM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a morally grey, obsessive vampire with anger management issues and the bright, playful human who might just match him in possessive romantic tendencies. It also contains steamy scenes between two men, and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) that one might expect from a vampire romance. This book can be listened to as a stand-alone, but the series is best enjoyed in order (it is especially recommended to listen to Book One first).

Another triumph of the MM vampire genre
If you love vampires and MM romance you simply HAVE to read this series. Every time I think this author has written my favourite character they come in and make me fall in love with someone new. If you've read books 1 & 2 (and I do recommend it for this - the story would stand alone but you'll get so much more out of Lucien's character arc if you know what's happened before) you know Luc as a bad, broken vamp, more monster than man, and following him meeting his mate - the irrepressible, wonderful Jamie - is nothing short of a delight (and hot, SO hot!). The narration is, as with the other books in the series, spot on - the characters individual voices are so clearly defined and beautifully delivered.

Enjoyed it even more on audio!
Not gonna lie y’all, the audiobook for this one actually made me like it even more than when I originally read it! The concept of having the human mate for a grumpy old French vampire being clairvoyant and knowing the vampire was coming him all along is so brilliant! Because then you get the dynamic of the human being like “chop chop old man, let’s make me a vampire! I’ve BEEN waiting!” I loved it so much, and the narration for both characters and their “monsters” was perfect!

Perfect
I knew I was going to love Lucien as a character from when we met him in Roman's book. However, I did not expect to love Jamie just as hard.
When one character sees another and just says "mine" is a great trope to me, but this takes it further. Lucien and Jamie haven't met! Jamie sees Lucien in dreams, doesn't even know his name, calls him Monster, and has already decided he's the one. He won't listen to anything else.
Their connection was great. Loved meeting the twins and honestly, the conversation about their bond cracked me up!
Visits from Jay, Roman and Danny were a great addition to the story.
As always, the narration was perfect. I could listen to Michael all day

Meh
We learnt more about the lore and worldbuilding but I didn't connect at all with the main characters unfortunately (and God knows I love psychos being soft for their lover). So it was fine but I didn't really care for it and kind of left me disappointed.
