Summary

Dale Vince never intended to start a business. Driven by a passion for sustainability, he left school aged 15 and became a New Age traveler, living for free in a wind-powered double decker bus. But after building his first wind turbine, he realized that to change the world he needed to be on the grid, not off it. In 1996, he founded green energy company Ecotricity based on principles of social, financial, and environmental sustainability, and changed the landscape of UK energy forever.

Since then, Dale has been appointed a UN ambassador for climate issues, become the owner of the first ever vegan soccer club, and amassed a fortune of over £120 million built on sustainability. He has also been a vocal supporter of Extinction Rebellion which, like Ecotricity, is based in Stroud. In this book, he shares his single-minded and uniquely purpose-orientated approach to business, with lessons learned from experience that will speak to any fledgling entrepreneur.

This is the story of a man whose unwavering mission to help save the environment has driven him all the way to the top, and a powerful manifesto for anyone who wants to change the world.

Everyone should here this.

I’m vegan, Solar on house, EV and environmentalist. But it doesn’t mean I agree with everything Vince says.
However for me it definitely has to be driven by politics and the big 3 will not do it. Some of the Green policies are weak.
We need a new way, with household names leading the way, a new party. I really don’t think any party represents me but the content of this book is bloody close!! Really enjoyed it. Oh and the wife installs off shore wind farms, so we’re sold. It’s just who we get behind and who can start delivering this.

Interesting and informative

A very interesting listen. I listen to Dale Vince's podcast but was nice to hear about his history. What an interesting character Dale Vince it. Chris Packham's narration was 5 star itself. I highly recommend this book and I will listen again.

A Breath of Fresh Air

I really enjoyed this book being a reflection of the story of a transition underway as we experience the power struggles over fossil fuels. However, it tells a greater story than simple fuel adoption and lifts up a torch of hope and genuine business initiative for us to adopt. The manifesto of a business ploughing “profit” back into the means to create sustainable energy and energy sources with social responsibility. The sensible adoption of a journey away from exploitation to sustainability. A very clear delivery of a workable philosophy, and in truth, a reality we can all see out there in our world today. Thoroughly enjoyed this narrated by the author Dale Vince and ably assisted by Chris Packham in the delivery. Thank you

Achievable Eco-Topia, Loved it!

Just finished listening to MANIFESTO; a truly inspirational book. The vision of "Eco-Topia" and the road map steps to getting there is absolutely 100% achievable and either have happened already, are happening now or should happen asap. To Dale and his team everywhere - thank you for all the GOOD that you do and for demonstrating how making easy changes for GOOD is in the hands of all of us.

Excellent! Dale Vince for PM.

Ever since I bought my first EV in 2016, I've admired Dale Vince for doing what's right for the environment, From installing the Electric Highway that allowed me to drive my EV 150 miles to North Devon and back again inside a day, to making diamonds out of thin air. My only wish is that Dale holds a few debates with cattle and dairy farmers about their impact on the environment.

Loved It!

Offers genuine solutions to many of today's problems whilst offering an insight to Mr Vince who has intrigued me for a while. Despite being written a year ago or so he is spot on and may have even predicted the cost of energy crisis.

Got any jobs going Dale? ;)

Vince for PM =}

If you're a climate change denier you'll hate this book. Go on! Dare ya! An inspirational life (thus far) of necessity and principles being the 'mother' of green invention. So much achieved in such a short time by one person's desire to change things for the better. I really hope the Dale Vince's, Chris Packham's, Ed Winter's, Greta Thornburg's, Paul Watson's, Juliet Gallatley's and Jane Goodall's of this world inspire more and more people to question our governments, directly challenge the wrongs and continue to fight for and protect our World. It's the only one we got. 💚

This should be on everyone’s reading list

This is my second listen and I got so much out of it both times. It’s a memoir and a roadmap to a green economy - inspiration grounded in information that all change-makers should take to heart.

Awesome

What a guy Dale Vince is. This is eye opening in respect of how simple a green world could be. Highly recommended for environmentalists and sceptics alike.
