Summary

Introducing the Mapton on Sea series by Sam Maxfield, narrated by award-winning narrator and comedian, Alison Larkin. Heartwarming, hilarious, and original, this brilliant new comic series has a love story, a little mystery, and a lot of laughs. If you’re looking for a light, engaging story that will make you laugh and cry, this one’s for you!

Stella loves her life in London, being far from the foul-mouthed, flame-haired grandmother who raised her. Then, she gets the dreaded call in the middle of the night, and finds herself living with Gina in the crazy coastal town of Mapton on Sea.

Whether it’s misbehaving dogs or gangs of pensioners racing mobility scooters along the promenade, as the June temperature soars, love shows up, and a mystery is revealed. Gina, Stella, and the residents of Mapton are in for a hilariously explosive summer.

Long-listed for the Women’s Fiction Prize. Exclusively for Audible, this audiobook includes a sample from the next book in the series, Mapton Strikes Back.

Definitely recommend

I have read the books published in this series and loved them. I was so delighted to find they are now appearing in audible and ordered the first one to listen to whilst on a long journey. I really enjoyed the audio. it was really well delivered with distinct characters and a tone that seemed to understand the book.
This story transports you to a world that is both hilarious, darkly so at times, but also with characters that have great depth. you feel really involved in the community.
I'm looking forward to the audio release of book 2 now,

Laugh out loud funny !!

Absolutely loved listening to this book set in a part of the country I know well having had family members living in the surrounding areas, makes such a change.
The characters are such fun and the storyline unexpected. The narrator was great using different voices for different characters.
I laughed out loud many times and would love to be able to listen to the rest of the books in this series too . Highly recommend and I have, several times.

Audible … there are many reasons some of us prefer to listen to rather than read books as I’m sure you are aware, mine is that since loosing my husband to pancreatic cancer just 3 weeks after diagnosis, I find it almost impossible to concentrate and actually read a book like I used to , it’s much easier to listen , thanks
