About this listen
Erik Cain joined the marines to get off death row. The deal was simple; enlist to fight in space and he would be pardoned for all his crimes.
In the 23rd Century, assault troops go to war wearing AI-assisted, nuclear-powered armor, but it is still men and blood that win battles. From one brutal campaign to the next, Erik and his comrades fight an increasingly desperate war over the resource rich colony worlds that have become vital to the economies of Earth's exhausted and despotic Superpowers.
As Erik rises through the ranks he finally finds a home, first with the marines who fight at his side and later among the colonists - men and women who have dared to leave everything behind to build a new society on the frontier, one where the freedoms and rights lost long ago on Earth are preserved.
Amidst the blood and death and sacrifice, Erik begins to wonder. Is he fighting the right war? Who is the real enemy?

Stale and boring.

The performance was dire too. Imagine a californian high school drop out reading a childs novel for an 8 year old with the odd swear word just to prove its not even for kids. Sometimes when you ask a question your voice goes up at the end of the sentance. Now imagine someone who talks like that - not just in every.normal.sentance! but also pitches up the question tone as much as after every 4 or 5 words. like, you know what I mean? Like, seriosly? like, yer - all the time? even though? this isn't even a? fricken question!?!?! Waaaaaahhhh... I'm only writing this review in hope that maybe, just maybe, I can save YOU.
Bleurghhhh

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
I can't see any enjoyment in this book. Totally lacking a plot and absolutely no listener engagement.Has Marines: Crimson Worlds put you off other books in this genre?
No. But I would not purchase any other books by this author or narrator.Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Jeff Bower?
The guy who reads the Lost Fleet series but this would not make up for the lack of a plot or storyline. What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Total and utter disappointment.Just Wasted A 'Credit'

Narration was particularly disappointing. The female marines sounded like a squeaky version of Michael Jackson and the Secret Group at the end of the book, who were supposed to be very scarey sounded like a kids cartoon characters. It's not necessary to make every character sound very different, this was the problem the narrator chose to solve but did not achieve it.
Disappointing
