Good story

Good love story whit nice twists. Only minus is that I hate the readers fake raspy voice.

A wonderful story, beautifully told.

I loved this story when I read it last year and I was so excited to know it was coming out in audiobook format too! The characters are so magnetic and although Silhara isn't easy to grow fond of at first, you soon find yourself falling for him. Jay Britton did an amazing job bringing this particular character to life and his very specific voice was perfect. The growing love between the characters is far from predictable and certainly not cheesy. The narrator did a good job in bringing the female character's voice off the page and I was swept away with the story telling from the word go!
A stunning example of Grace Draven's writing and superb narration by Jay Britton.
I would definitely recommend this and am looking forward to further collaborations between Grace and Jay.

It’s ok

I looked forward to this book because of the synopsis...it had such potential to be amazing, however the story is soo slow, description of the world lacked detail, i kept listening in the hope of something more substantial... the narrator is a little wooden with too long a pause in between sentences, although his voices where easy to differentiate between the characters. I’m left deflated and to be honest it’s a bit boring at times.. such a shame.

A good listen but...

A second time reading this. I loved the audio book performance but I have to admit it could get a bit tiring when reading it. it's interesting and the world building is wonderful. I do recommend it but make sure to have patience

Listen to a Sample First

I love Grace Draven. She is a fabulous author and I will read and re-read her offerings as long as she continues to write. This audio-book however was spectacularly let down by the narrator and his weird way of intoning and reading. Gaps between sentences that were way too long and a weird high note at the end of each sentence that sounds faintly like a question or a rather strange declarative. Additionally, his female voices were less than stellar. Suggest you listen to a sample before buying this one.

Holy Hera that was awesome!

See heading. I loved it. Amazing characters, flaws and all, Totally believable. The real message and places are vibrant and so well explained!

Voice acting was amazingly spot on! How he managed both the ruined throat of a man to singsong voice of a woman in the same sentence shows his talent.

Another stellar story by Grace Draven!

The story and the main characters as well as the side characters were immaculately drawn and the story unique and sublimely executed! All the stars to Grace Draven, who is a master storyteller! Jay Britton’s reading of the story was interesting. When speaking the raspy voice of Silhara, it took some getting used to. I feel like he also voices picture descriptions for the visually impaired and so the story outside of the speech of the characters sounded like that. He ends a lot of sentences with an upward inflection like a question. Still, he was a great choice and far better than using an American actor with a fake British accent. Jay Britton has a very pleasant British accent which worked well with the story.
