Summary
After a Sweet 16 ceremony, Reyna Clifton - the mother of the birthday girl - is found severely injured at the bottom of the grand staircase of the Regal Phoenix Resort and Spa.
The Clifton family blames the resort for Reyna’s fall and sues for negligence. Daniel Mendoza and his firm are called in to defend the lawsuit, but when Mrs. Clifton is found dead in her hospital room, Daniel's suspicions arise.
With the help of his legal team and a private investigator, Daniel is determined to find out what really happened to Mrs. Clifton. But who would have wanted to murder her, and is there some other foul play involved?

It was okay.
Although the story was an interesting one, I found it difficult due to the narration style. The narration didn't flow well and came across as rather impassive.

Interesting plot
A tale of jealousy and betrail, this story will keep you guessing right up until the end. Although I did enjoy this book, I did find there was too much detail in places. I found the characters names confusing at times and muddled them up. Overall, a good start to this series.

What a twisty thriller!
series from Daniel Maldonado. May It Please The Court. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen something completely different happened. I love the legal jargon and I also love that most of the book doesn’t take place in a court run. I think this is a great start to a great new series and I already have the second book already in my library and download it. I thought the narrator had a great voice, but maybe he should have read each chapter before narrating. His voice was pleasant and I really have no negative things to say about his now ration except maybe he could have practiced a little more. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation or errors as I am blind and dictate my reviews but all opinions on my own. I totally enjoyed this book and highly recommend that if you love legal thrillersWith a little drama you love this newWhen a dysfunctional family throws their 16-year-old daughter a Kintzing yadaAnd the uncle truth is that night to tell her he is actually our father. I knew this was going to be a great book. My biggest pet peeve in a book is when it is predictable. That is the total opposite with

It's okay listen
Good plot, a slow burn with a lot of subtle hints and little details throughout, Maybe a bit too detailed. I did not like the narrator's voice. It grated somehow.

Interesting law book
I found this very interesting, just as an English speaker I got confused with the names. It took me a while to get them right. What we do when we are jealous, distroy not only your life but your children, husband and family.

Moving on from Chambers Lane.
This first book about Daniel Mendoza after he moves on from the Chambers Lane series was quite enjoyable. I found the beginning a little tedious when it was all about the sweet 16 ceremony/party and I think it could have been covered in far less depth. Once the story got going however it was very good and entertaining. As usual no spoilers from me but suffice to say there are plenty of twists and turns as Daniel solves the mystery. I wouldn't dock any stars for the beginning as overall the book was an excellent read. The narrator is a new voice to me and I thought him quite good.
I was kindly given a copy of this book by the author and have left this honest and voluntary review.

An Okay story
This story went into a lot of detail about law. I didn’t enjoy that level of detail and found it detracted from the story. The story itself was okay. The characters were fairly believable.
