Summary

This classic teaching by a Tibetan master continues to inspire both beginners and long-time practitioners of Buddhist meditation. Chgyam Trungpa Rinpoche shows that meditation extends beyond the formal practice of sitting to build the foundation for compassion, awareness, and creativity in all aspects of life. He explores the six activities associated with meditation in action - generosity, discipline, patience, energy, clarity, and wisdom - revealing that through simple, direct experience, one can attain real wisdom: the ability to see clearly into situations and deal with them skillfully, without the self-consciousness connected with ego.

Editor reviews

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the original unabridged audiobook guide to meditation has been released with Meditation in Action, written by Tibetan meditation expert and Buddhist Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche with a foreword and the narration by Samuel Bercholz. This guide gives not just the skills involved in true meditation, but examines the entire concept as a whole. You will learn a vast amount of wisdom from a man that took his knowledge of meditation and Buddhism and spread it throughout the west in a time when eastern philosophies were largely met with scepticism. Available now from Audible.

Thought-provoking!

"Meditation in Action" introduced me to Chögyam Trungpa, and what an interesting man! His words are so warm and accessible that I feel like I know him. The way he delivers his views is so simple, yet so deep, that the book can be listenend to over and over again. The anecdotes he shares are both fun and enlightening. His voice deserves to be heard!

Very good

I have been studying Tibetan Buddhism for over 15 years and I just found this book so clear and it really helped to deepen my understanding. This book is a great foundation for those that are new to meditation and those with some knowledge. I will listen to this again and again. Trungpa is amazing.

Simply soothing

Narrated beautifully. The principles and history of meditation are shared in a simple narrative that breaks down complexities in leading a peaceful life. I thoroughly enjoyed this audible and would recommend it as a brief and accessible summary to the Buddhist traditions and essence of mediation.

Thoughtful Approach

You won't really learn how to meditate from this book but you will learn about the philosophy of Buddhism and a meditative life. A good read, although the author died prematurely in a questionable context, proving, perhaps, that wisdom flows through any one of us, despite any human failings.

Excellent instruction

Great insight from a Tibetan master. Very accessible from a western perspective and provides an introduction to the development of Tibetan Buddhism in the West.

A MUST HAVE .. If YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOU...

A truly remarkable work, explaining much of the difficult to explain... A kind of handbook to go back to again and again.. to grasp the truths therein, a light along the way... Great to know I dont have to get to India... Thankyou
