Haruki Murakami
About this listen
Across seven tales, Haruki Murakami brings his powers of observation to bear on the lives of men who, in their own ways, find themselves alone. Here are vanishing cats and smoky bars, lonely hearts and mysterious women, baseball and the Beatles, woven together to tell stories that speak to us all.
Marked by the same wry humor that has defined his entire body of work, in this collection Murakami has crafted another contemporary classic.

"Brilliantly combines elements of the surreal, film noir and existentialist enquiry." ( Sunday Times on Dance, Dance, Dance)
How did you mispronounce Erika? You've really never heard that name before?
"EreEEka", and other names as well as places in HarUUUki Murakami's Men with Women are horrendously butchered by the narrator. It was funny to begin with, and annoying by the end.
As for the book, kind feels a lot more like the outdated sexism is the author's actual opinion than simply that of the characters. That pulled me out of taking the story as seriously as I could.

About the stories themselves, Murakami's narrative is always interesting and agile, and there's a couple of stories that will stay with me. Overall an interesting book to accompany your daily activities.
